Challenge Quilts for 2018-2019
Our 2019 Quilt Show Theme is "Quilts in the Garden".
Our inspiration will be taken from photographs of the 2017 Guild trip to the Luther Burbank Gardens in Santa Rosa. Choosing one picture, from those provided, each quilter will make his/her interpretation of it into a quilt. Following our theme, the finished quilt must have a mini quilt somewhere on the front of the quilt as part of the design.
The quilt size limits are 24.5 " x 24.5" at the smallest and 36.5" x 36.5" at the largest. For example your quilt could measure 24.5" x 36.5 ". Your quilt can measure anywhere between the 24.5" and the 36.5". The mini quilt on the front of the quilt must be no smaller than 2" square and no larger than 6" square.
You will receive 1 Fat Quarter of fabric to go with your picture and you must use 90% of the fabric. Quilters are encouraged to use the fabric as part of the overall design of their quilt. The fabric can not be used on the back of the quilt, but can be used sparingly in either the border or binding, but not in both.
The judging of the Challenge quilts will be held at the February 2019 Day General Meeting. You must return your inspiration photo and a small piece of the challenge fabric with your quilt in a small plastic baggie attached to the back of your quilt the day of judging.
You will need to have your Challenge Quilt at the guild meeting by 9:30 am as it will be hung on the wall for judging. Evening members should arrange to have their Challenge Quilts brought to the February Day General meeting by another member if they are unable to bring it themselves.
The judges will be three non-guild members who are quilters.
Prizes will be determined at a later date.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Becky Griswold either by email or phone or you may see her at any General Meeting.
Please keep your copy of the information and rules until the judging of the quilts is completed or refer to the Challenge Quilt page on our website.
