North Wind Quilters Guild
The North Wind Quilters Guild lovingly makes and donates quilts to be given to different charities in our local and world wide communities. Here are a few excerpts from a few of the many letters and thank you cards that we have received from some of our quilt recipients :
On February 4, 2020 a representative from Holiday Happenings attended our General Meeting and presented the Guild a Crystal Award in recognition of the donations that we have made to their organization. They also brought us a chocolate cake!
In December of 2018 we donated quilts to Holiday Connections. These quilts were given to Seniors over the holidays. Here are pictures and comments from some of the recipients:
Mrs. Maureen was brought to tears by the gift of her quilt and said, "They are all angels and I will cherish this quilt forever." Ms. Jaqueline's brother received a quilt a few years ago which he treasures. Jaqueline cares for her brother and sends her thanks for the beautiful quilt. When Deborah received her quilt, she hugged it and stated it was, "so beautiful". Gladys was thrilled wit her quilt which she declared were "her colors". Ms. Willie was proud to show visiting relatives her precious gift which brings her lots of comfort.
“Loving family members, helpful neighbors and caring friends have been a silver lining on this dark cloud of cancer, and now we find we have friends we have never met. This handmade quilt is such a kind gesture and we are truly touched. Thank you for devoting your time and talents to making these wonderful quilts for cancer patients like my husband.”
Nora, wife of a cancer patient
“Nothing touches our heart more than unexpected kindness. Thank you for your kind thoughts. Your quilt will bring me much comfort during this difficult time in my life.”
Derek, cancer patient
"It is organizations and fine people like yourself who remind us military people of our efforts to keep America free. I love my Quilt of Gratitude and will always cherish it. No one had ever taken the time to thank me for serving during the Vietnam War. You don't know how my heart feels."
Sally, Retired Naval Doctor
“Even though you didn't have to do it, you did it anyway and it was much appreciated. Thank you very much for the beautiful quilt. I use it all the time.”
Deborah, cancer patient
“Thank you so much for making our “Daddy” quilts. We appreciate all the time and effort that went into making them. You have no idea what these quilts mean to my kids and me. We truly are blessed by all you do.”
Jerry, June, baby Jane and Mom Jenna, Military Family
"Thank you for this wonderful quilt. My wife and I are very fortunate to the people like yourselves doing great things like this. This makes my wife's treatment a little easier."
Ken, husband of a cancer patient
“My heart cannot begin to express how much my family appreciates the quilts you made for our two daughters. My four year old Madison had tears in her eyes as she opened her quilt up and told me how much she loves seeing her Daddy's face. She was so excited to wrap it around her in bed tonight. My one year old Lexi also loves her quilt and loves that Winnie-the-Pooh is also on her quilt, how adorable! The love and dedication you put into these quilts means the world to us.”
Madison, Lexi and Mom, Military Family
"Thank you so much for the incredibly beautiful quilts for Senior recipients of Holiday Connection! I have included a few photos from our deliveries this year. It is an honor to be able to deliver these beautiful works of functional art to people who are without others over the holidays. Thanks again for all you do. I appreciate your time and generosity!"
Alisa, Vacaville Friends of Seniors
"To the nice people who provided the lap quilt to me let me say "Thank You!" Your gesture is greatly appreciated. My puppies and I enjoy resting with your donation laying in my lap. This will comfort me while I heal".
Kevin, Cancer patient
"Thank you NWQG for honoring my brother with one of your beautiful Quilts of Gratitude. This quilt quickly became one of his most prized possessions. He made sure he had it in the hospital laying in honor across his bed. He sadly has passed away but this quilt was passed down to me, his niece, who will care for it always."
Patty, niece of a WWII Navy Veteran
"Thank you for your thoughtful donation of the beautiful quilts this year. I can't tell you how amazed I am at your talent in making these quilts. I know the Seniors we delivered to this year were so pleased to receive your quilts. One woman, in a Rehab facility had another old blanket on her bed covering her and when she opened the quilt from your Guild she told me to fold that old one up and put that beautiful quilt on her bed. Anyone that passed by her room was asked to come in and see her beautiful quilt. Thanks again for all you do for the Seniors in our community".
Vacaville Friends of Seniors and Holiday Connection
"I wanted to tell you how humbled and grateful I am to have been a recent recipient of a Quilt of Gratitude. I feel so proud of my quilt! I never in a million years thought that someone would honor me for something I did such a long time ago. I was in the Air Force for almost 30 years. I have suffered from Post Traumatic Stress for many of those years, even though I wasn't diagnosed until the last decade. This quilt makes me think that people really care about my family's sacrifices while I was deployed those many many, years ago."
